Since the age of 9, when I watched my mother cure her symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis by changing her diet, I’ve known that the body has the capacity to heal if provided with the right resources and if blockages are removed.
In my 20’s I was hit by a car while working as a bike messenger. Acupuncture got me back on my bike quickly, and a few years later I moved to Hawaii to begin my studies with Dr Chang Yi Hsiang at the Tai Hsuan Institute, where I studied classical Chinese acupuncture, herbs, and qi gong. I completed my degree in 2008 at TriState College of Acupuncture in NYC, where I added Japanese acupuncture, trigger point therapy dry needling, and Kampo herbal medicine to my tool kit.
In 2011, after working in other busy clinics, I co-founded Brooklyn Open Acupuncture, a high volume sliding scale community clinic. I have continued to study and intern with senior practitioners such as Nigel Dawes for Kampo, David Winston and Aviva Romm for western herbs, Sharon Weizenbaum for classical Chinese herbalism, and sports medicine acupuncture courses with Matt Callison and Brian Lau.
After more than a decade of successfully treating tons of different conditions, the patterns I was trained to see in the macrocosm of nature reveal themselves in the microcosm of my patients over and over. Though I particularly love working with orthopedic conditions and harmonizing the hormonal dance to regulate periods, allow conception, and ease pregnancy and postpartum, if I specialize in anything, it’s aligning the flow of my patients with the flow of nature. When we are in tune this way, we can relax and surf our internal cycles (of breath, circulation and blood flow, fluid metabolism, ovulation, conception, repair, sleep, and hormones) with ease, success, and stoke.
